“Therefore keep watch [for Christ’s Return], because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” (Matthew 24:42-44)
In Tasmania we have a joke, “If you don’t like the weather, just wait ten minutes.”
Because we’re an island wedged in between the hot Australian Outback and the cool temperatures of the Southern Ocean, massive warm and cool fronts come across the Great Australian Bight and wage war over little Tasmania. We aren’t called “The Roaring 40’s” (referring to the wind at our latitude) for nothing.
Whenever you go bushwalking in the mountains in Tassie you need to be prepared for the weather of all four seasons in one day, and this includes snow in the summertime. Not surprisingly then, this photograph of Florentine Peak from the Rodway Range in Mt Field National Park was taken a day out from the summer solstice.
Despite the National Parks’ warning signs and literature, every year the unprepared and the presumptuous get caught in bad situations in the mountains because they failed to prepare themselves to meet the perils of the temperamental alpine weather.
Likewise, Jesus has repeatedly warned us to be ready at all times for his Second Coming, a time of judgment for those who have refused to repent of their sins and receive his gracious gift of eternal life through faith in him and mercy for those who have.
Many people dismiss Jesus’ warnings as a load of rubbish because they have never actually studied the validity of the Bible, the extra-Biblical historical accounts of Jesus, archaeology and the perfect track record of Bible prophecy. These are all issues I looked into and studied before I came to know Jesus personally. I am not one who automatically believes things as hearsay; I carefully study to see if these things are really true.
(Here is a list of common FAQ’s, answers and links to further study on these subjects which I have put together: Is God Real?)
In the Old Testament there are over 300 prophecies about the “Messiah”, the person whom God was going to send to save us from our sins. All 300+ of these prophecies were fulfilled by Jesus Christ. I have done a piece of artwork about this subject and have also written in detail about it. In addition, I have also calculated the astronomical statistics of one person fulfilling just a handful of these prophecies. It’s an absolutely fascinating subject, and here is the link to that artwork: “Can You See Jesus Fulfilled Biblical Prophecies?” (Signs of The Times Series).
When we consider Jesus’ perfect track record on his first coming, we would do well to seriously pay attention to his warnings about his Second Coming, especially as we see the fulfilment and movement towards fulfilment of some of the big Bible prophecies about the End Times in our own day such as: The reformation of Israel as a state in 1948, the movement toward a one world currency and worldwide government and the ability for people from all over the world to watch events as they are happening live anywhere in the world. Due to its great importance, I have devoted an entire Series of artwork to the subject of the Biblical End Times: Signs of The Times Series.

“[Jesus said,] Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:34-36)
