“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13 NKJV)

Wineglass Bay in Freycinet National Park is one of Tasmania’s most popular icons. This beautiful view of Wineglass Bay was taken from the top of Mt. Amos, one of the three peaks that make up the “Hazards”.

The trail to the top is relatively short, fairly steep and very rewarding. Climbing Mt. Amos in wet weather, however, is quite treacherous. I have vivid memories of having to descend barefoot and slide on my backside over the slippery sections in order to avoid plummeting down the mountain. Thankfully, the day I took this photo, the weather was perfect!

Despite the beautiful weather, though, I nearly didn’t take this shot. In between the exhaustion of backpacking and a few near sleepless nights due to loud drunks in the campground, I felt more exhausted than I had ever been in just about my entire life, and I had an absolutely splitting headache to go with it.

I debated whether or not I should make the climb to capture this shot on my final day at Freycinet National Park. I knew it would be my only chance for quite awhile, so I decided to take my golden opportunity, ask the Lord for strength and to get on with it.

Amazingly, the Lord not only enabled me to climb Mt. Amos but also to climb it in a record-smashing speed (which I had to do in order to keep my promise to my husband, who wanted to be relieved of babysitting duty so he could go fishing during the rising tide).

The far greater miracle, however, was that upon returning to the campsite, my three year old was perfectly quiet, beautifully behaved and fully entertained for a few hours inside the tent while Mommy rested. Thank you, God, truly, “…nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37).
