Cape Hauy is one of the three capes on the iconic “Three Capes Track”. The other two capes of the Three Capes Track are Cape Pillar and Cape Raoul. These stunning dolerite sea cliffs rise out of the Southern Ocean to an astounding height of 300m (984’) and are among the tallest sea cliffs in the world.
Cape Hauy can be done as a day walk separate from the official Three Capes Track. The 8 km (5 mi) walk begins at Fortescue Bay and takes about 4-5 hours to complete. Cape Pillar, the crowning jewel of the Three Capes Track, can be seen in the distance from Cape Hauy. From Cape Hauy, bushwalkers also get a fantastic view of the Candlestick and Totem Pole, two free standing rock columns. Excellent views of the Hippolytes, a couple of picturesque islands also known for their Australian Fur Seal colonies, can also be obtained from Cape Hauy.
