The wild bergamot is a common flower throughout North America. It belongs to the mint family and is used for tea and medicine. This beautiful wild bergamot was growing near Wind Cave National Park in the Black Hills area.
Wind Cave National Park was the first cave to be designated as a national park in 1903. Wind cave is special because of its calcite formations called “boxwork”. Wind cave got its name because of the wind that flows in and out of its entrances due to the differences in air pressure within the cave and outside its opening.
