This drawing came out of a powerful experience of spiritual warfare. Praise and worship were the weapons that deflected the devil’s attacks and ultimately defeated him.

Artist’s Reflection:

“May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, to carry out the sentence written against them. This is the glory of all his saints. Praise the LORD.” (Psalm 149:6-9)

I got the idea for this multi-media piece after a very intense and frightening dream where I was being attacked by demons. In my dream I began to pray and praise God to defend myself. I was amazed as I saw my praise act like a ‘forcefield’ that deflected all the attacks of my enemies.

I woke up in the midst of it, but I still felt attacked and overcome with fear so I continued to pray and praise God. After awhile, my oppressors were defeated by the glorious power of God. His thick presence filled the room, and so did my praise! I felt the victorious power of Christ and praised him for his victory over Satan through the cross and for his victory in my battle.

(This is the same dream which also inspired the drawing “Victorious Christ” (Spiritual Warfare, Victory, Freedom, Healing Series).)

This piece abstractly shows the immensity of the power of praise and the presence of God which inhabits it.

“But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” (Psalm 22:3 KJV)
